Alongside the recent publication of ‘Provoke’, we are proud to present a unique Strictly Limited Edition large-format print,”The Lost Negative 02.” During the final week of production for ‘Provoke’, photographer Peter Anderson rediscovered this remarkable lost negative in a hidden box, buried — a portrait that had never been previously printed or published. Fortunately we were able to include the final image in the book just before it went to press. However, this special print edition stands entirely on its own.
“The Lost Negative 02” features an alternative darkroom exposure, with varying layers of light, distinct from the version included in ‘Provoke’. Because of the traditional darkroom process, subtle variations, imperfections, and unique markings may appear — making every print a truly one-of-a-kind piece. Printed on Ilford Portfolio Heavyweight MGRC Pearl darkroom paper, each handmade print is individually signed, stamped, and numbered by Peter Anderson.
Shot on the roof-top of the Warner Brothers (WEA) Building, Broadwick Street Soho, London – Thursday 13 October 1983. The shoot was originally commissioned for the NME, by Barbara Charone, Head of Press at Warner Brothers (WEA). Peter had one hour with Madonna before the light was dropping. “I first met Madonna at a record company office in Soho. It was her second trip to London. She was running late from shopping. She quickly put her make-up on, then we headed up to the roof of the building. Her beauty radiated as she danced and performed for the camera” – Peter Anderson.
ALL PRINTS WILL DESPATCH W/C 16th March 2026.
The prints are non refundable. Additional customs fees (INCLUDING EU and US CUSTOMERS) are the responsibility of the buyer.
